Our Birth With a Midwife and Doula

Relaxing through a contraction
	Thy will be done! This was an Experience for me, as I had never had a water birth before. I found that it helped me alot.  I was having pain from my bladder being pinched  during  each contraction  ( I supose that is common with your 8th baby).  Before I went in the water, my Doulas and husband were taking turns doing stomache lifts with the rebozo. This was working fine but as the contractions got stronger I went to the water.  In the water it seemed to  float my belly releaving the pressure off my bladder and easing some of the contraction intenseity. This was such a relief to me. The water was warm and my doula had made me a herbal bath ball which smelled wonderful . It was made of many different herbs to help ease labor. I also use this after the birth for a sitz bath.  This was a rented Aqua Doula Tub

	Here she is, after a night of labor that had slowed down to nothing and my labor finally coming back around 4:00 pm when my water broke during a contraction.  It was a wonderful experience to have done the water bith and to be given the option to do so , as I am a vbac.   The water helped me with my pain, as I always have postierior births. The best part of it all was being able to feel that I was having bladder pain. I have had many births in which I was unable to pee afterwards ( yes some of them were epidurl choices , before I learned all I know now)    During labor my bladder was being piched because I felt this I was able to do something about it.   The water lifted my bladder off my uterus releaving this.  I was able to move into different positions other than the typical traditional back position to releive this.  I was undamaged this time. I wonder what kind of damage I had already caused in my past bynot feeling all of that? Her first Kiss

This is the point in which you say, " Ok , someone else do this ", ( I think someone told me I said a litte more than that)  but we will not publish that!

With Kathy , my midwife, coaching my husband and watching , Maria , Danille and Marilyn (my doulas) all helping me in some way.  I was very blessed to have  another midwife there ,Goldie, she was running around getting things ready. My husband is shown helping delivering the head of Veronica our baby number 8   . I was very pampered with all the help I had during this labor and  I used everyone present. This was the first time I had so many helpers and it  allowed me to concentrate more on my labor as I trusted everyone around me was doing the other stuff that needed to be done. The Power of having lots of help!
